Limpkins – Limpkins are a common wading bird that call Walt Disney World home. Limpkins are related to rails and cranes and are also similar in size and appearance to the White Ibis, another wading birdy commonly seen at Disney World.  Limpkins primarily range through Central and South America and the Caribbean although they also call Florida and Southern Georgia home.  

Limpkins have a wingspan or around 40 inches and are usually between 25 and 29 inches long. They are easily distinguished by their brown and olive plumage with white spots. They can be easily confused with a juvenile White Ibis and the way to tell the difference is the white spots on the Limpkin are much more pronounced.  

At Walt Disney World, the best place to see Limpkins is wading along the shores of Bay Lake at the Wilderness Lodge. Limpkins even like to frequent the area near the Geyser Point Bar and Grill, often times looking for handouts or food dropped on the ground. They can also be seen at Saratoga Springs Resort and Old Key West.
