When you are snacking on a jumbo turkey leg at the Liberty Square Market in the Magic Kingdom or at the Fife and Drum Tavern in EPCOT, have you ever wondered where it comes from? Free range turkeys on Disney property? The grocery store down the road? A farm in Ocala?

Regardless, one thing that cannot be denied is that Wild Turkeys, one of the largest birds in North America, are a common site on property at Walt Disney World. We regularly stay at Saratoga Springs Resort and turkey sightings are almost as common as sightings of Great Egrets, Cormorants, Great Blue Herons, and Anhingas. We have seen them wandering on the grounds from our balcony and also in the parking lots. At Shades of Green, we once saw about 15 Wild Turkeys taking talking a stroll on their own around the resort. We have also seen Wild Turkeys off Vista Boulevard near Fort Wilderness Campground.

If you see any Wild Turkeys, take time to admire them. They are fairly docile and will not run away, but as always do not approach them and leave them to their business, they will let you take pictures of them.
